HP 8200 Problems

This is a great drive except for one small problem.  It doesn't burn a full 80 minutes on an 80 minute disc (it's shy by about 1:30).  Why?  Because HP and Sony (who actually makes this drive) considers the 80 minute disc "non-standard" (probably because they don't make 80 minute media).  If you plan on using 80 minute media, don't get this drive.   Otherwise, it's a great buy.  You might consider looking at the Sony CRX120E, which is the exact same drive, but with a slightly lower price tag on it (around $220, I believe).

Make sure you've got up to date ASPI drivers as well!  (Check here for those).

If you're using Adaptec's Easy CD Creator, you might need to get an upgrade from them (you can find that from here, Adaptec's site).    However, that just upgrades you from version 3.0 to 3.5c of Easy CD Creator (as well as Easy CD Creator Deluxe).

Another solution to problems with Easy CD Creator not working: get CDRWin.

Make sure you're not affected by possible software conflict with  Nero and Adaptec...

Pick the right media!  Read this to see what other people have to say about what media does and doesn't work well with the HP drives...
