JVC XR-W4080 Problems

***IMPORTANT:  DO NOT PURCHASE THIS DRIVE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!***

The JVC 4080 is one of the worst drives I've EVER had the displeasure of seeing.  Not only that, but it's all over the place, too - mostly mainfesting itself as the Creative 4224, S&F 4224, Memorex 4224 and Philips 4224 models.

To quote what my friends at PKer.com said:

"This drive is the biggest piece of garbage on the face of the earth, as cdrs go anyway. This game WILL NOT backup PSX games.  It works fine on Audio and on data storage, but if you want to make an image of your CDs, you can forget it. Our suspicion is that something in the firmware is recognizing PSX games and some how leaving out some bit path to let the PSX recognize the burn as a PSX game. This kind of charlatanism purpotrated by Creative is unacceptable as well as fraudulent. They lead you to believe this is a CDR, well, it isn't. It is an audio CD maker. ANY cdr that has restrictions beyond what the CD Standards are is NOT a cdr in our opinion."

I wholeheartly agree, guys!

If you purchased this drive, take it back.   If it's out of warantee, moan bitch and complain as much as you have to to get them to take it back.

Any e-mail I get with the content "How do I copy with my Creative 4224 (or whatever)?"  will get promptly deleted!
