Philips CDD3600/3610 Problems

As with many CD-R problems, firmware upgrades can cause miracles to happen!  First, make sure you've got up to date firmware - version 3.01 is the latest and greatest for the CDD3600/3610.

You can get a copy of version 3.01 from here, Philips' site.

Next, make sure you've got up to date ASPI drivers as well!  (Check here for those).

Make sure you've read my general info concerning Philips drives.

Now, if you have the latest firmware/drivers and you're still having problems, make sure that your setting for CDRWin are optimal.   Check here for those.

Make sure that you have your drive hooked up to the SECONDARY IDE port (if you have the 3610) as the master drive in the chain.   If you're trying to use it on the same port as your harddrive, you can run into problems when the same IDE port is competing for use, especially when you're trying to burn a CD-R.

Take a quick second to read over my Adaptec/Nero fixes to make sure you're not getting 'hit' by them...

Pick the right media!  Read this to see what other people have to say about what media does and doesn't work well with their Philips drives...
