Sony CRX100E/CH Problems

This is one of the few IDE drives that I recommend.  With around a $190 price tag, it's a great buy.  If I were going to buy a new IDE drive today, it'd be this one, the Ricoh MP7040, or the Yamaha 4416E.  This drive is basically the same thing as the HP 8100/8110.  There is one drawback, however, to this drive - it won't fully burn an 80 minute CD-R - it will only go as far as 78:30.  So if you're into using 80 minute CD-R's, this is not the drive for you.

Make sure you've got up to date ASPI drivers first. (Check here for those).

Make sure you've got the proper settings set on your software, and that your computer is setup correctly.

I haven't heard of many problems with this drive, overall...

You can read all about this drive at Sony's site, here.

Don't forget to read important information concerning possible software conflicts with Nero and Adaptec.

Pick the right media!  Read this to see what other people have to say about what media does and doesn't work well with their Sony drives...
